Tractor was found by speculator in pine tree thicket in Nash County, NC in approx. 1986. He said it had been there for about 10 years. Engine had a broken rod. Tractor had been there a lot of years as tires dry rotted and green algae was all over tractor. Rainwater had gotten into engine as muffler not covered. Tach showed less than 500 hrs. when tractor found but was dam- aged. Minor wear on three-point hitch or trailer tongue-tires very good tread but dry rotted and flat. Tractor had very low hours when had engine problem. Bought tractor for $1,200 and brought home. We pulled engine and tore down for a complete overhaul. Block not damaged and was sent to machine shop to clean and check surface level. Crankshaft only needed polishing. Camshaft pitted by rust and was replaced. Head was surfaced for flatness and cleaned, and complete valve resurfacing done. New cylinder sleeve kits in- stalled and crankshaft bearings, also cam bearings–complete engine overhaul done. Tractor then completely serviced and painted. Installed new rims built by Webco for 23.1 x26 turf tires and new rims for 11Lx 15 front implement tires as tractor was to be used to spray golf courses and large turf areas–tractor used with 3 pt. sprayer for nearly two seasons when one camshaft broke–we had installed rebuilt cam which my expert mechanic friend warned me about. Found used camshaft from Waukesha 283 engine with no measurable wear. Had another 1650 that had bought and we changed turf tires to it and continued turf spraying with it while putting in cam on this tractor. At that time, this tractor had never worn paint off exhaust manifold since engine overhaul. Mechanic friend hooked it up to a gang disc harrow and ran it for 3 hours cutting land and completely seated rings-this burned paint off exhaust manifold. Used this tractor from that time on as spray tractor for 200 acres of crops I tended part time with 150 gal. 32 ft. sprayer. Used this way until 2015 when retired from farming. Since then, expert mechanic replaced lift reservoir pan which had a leak and front wheel bearings. This tractor engine, Hydra- power, lift, trans. all have been serviced and tractor is in excellent condition–know of nothing wrong with it. Put on the 18.4x38 rear tires and 11Lx15 fronts as I planned to carry it to shows and parades. Only decided to sell it now so my wife and I can donate the money to our church to help build a Family Life/Youth Building. –My expert mechanic friend who has done all the work on this tractor is available for verification of the above. Tractor is available to see and drive at JFS Power Equipment, 4533 NC581 Hwy, Sims, NC 27880. Phone 252 235-2311. Bill Johnson. –Tractor has reserve of $10,000.
